In the news recently there have been two accounts of folks being arrested for the mistreatment of dogs. One person was arrested for pouring gasoline on a dog and setting it on fire. In the other case a man was arrested for tossing a dog into traffic and causing its death. Thankfully, the dog set on fire survived. Certainly both of these perpetrators of such vicious, unmerciful acts should be punished.
The news media severely condemned, and rightfully so, those who were guilty. Most people were terribly upset, me included, that such heinous crimes were committed. Yet, on the same day that these crimes were committed, there were hundreds of unborn children mutilated and murdered, and not a single word in the news media about these. The two who were guilty of torturing or killing the dogs were given jail sentences, while the doctors who mutilated and killed the unborn babies were praised and paid for their dastardly deed. It is legal in our society to mutilate and kill an unborn child and illegal to torture an animal. This is the warped mindset of our society today.
Abortions are performed by different means. The most prominent method is the suction method. A powerful suction tube, attached to a vacuum aspirator, is inserted into the mother’s womb. The baby and the placenta are torn into parts and sucked into a jar. The second most prominent method is the saline method. A long needle is inserted through the mother’s abdomen into the baby’s sac and a solution of salt is injected into it. The baby breathes in and swallows the salt and is poisoned by it. It takes over an hour to slowly kill the baby by this method. A third method is called “hysterotomy”. This method is like a Caesarean Section, only the phlegm is not sucked from the baby’s throat, and the baby is dropped into a bucket or other container and left to die. Another method is called D & C (dilation and curettage). A sharp, loop-shaped, steel knife is inserted into the womb and the baby’s body is cut into pieces. Usually a nurse is assigned to reassemble the parts of the baby’s body to make sure that all of the body has been removed.
On January 22, 1973, the U. S. Supreme Court, in a decision of 7 to 2, ruled that abortions could be performed on any child in any state at any time during the first three months of pregnancy. The decision handed down was that abortion is solely a decision between a woman and her physician. The truth is, beloved, abortion is murder!
One can readily see the warped mindset of much of our society today who would condemn and punish those who maimed or killed animals, but excused, permitted, and tolerated, without penalty, those who mutilated and murdered unborn babies. They call it “abortion on demand” which makes it legal for a pregnant woman and her doctor to end the pregnancy by aborting (killing) the unborn child. They call it “The right of choice.” The unborn child has no “choice” in the matter of life or death. The rule legalizing abortion on demand was made by the U.S. Supreme Court and forbids any state to interfere with the woman’s choice to abort the unborn child.
The so-called “women’s lib” movement has been one of the strongest efforts to secure abortion on demand. They reason (?) that a woman has the right to privacy of her own body, and since the unborn baby is a part of her body, she has the right to do with it what she pleases. The truth of the matter is that the unborn infant is a completely separate, growing human being and is not just another part of the mother’s body. They may call it a “fetus” or an “embryo”, but the fact remains that it is a “human being”! It has all of the characteristics that will eventually, if permitted to live, become an adult human being. All of the organs and members of the “fetus” are self contained at conception. The mother adds none of these to the child after conception. When the seed of the woman is fertilized by the sperm of the man, a “child” is conceived. It is as much a part of the father as it is the mother. The mother simply provides, within her body, the necessary nutrients and shelter for the baby until it reaches a viable stage where it can live outside the mother’s womb.
Regardless of what I or anyone else may think about the matter, the important thing is: “What does the Bible say?” God hates “hands that shed innocent blood.” (Proverbs 6:16, 17). Who could be more innocent than an unborn child? Jesus said, “Thou shalt do no murder.” (Matthew 19:18). To murder is to take the life of another unlawfully. Regardless of the laws of our nation, it is against the law of God to intentionally take the life of another, and an unborn baby has life from conception. John the baptizer was called a “babe” while yet in his mother’s womb (Luke 1:41). Christ was referred to as a “child” while yet in Mary’s womb (Matthew 1:18). I recommend that you read Psalm 139:13-16 and see how God considers that which is unborn and still in the mother’s womb. We need to teach our young people what the Bible teaches about the sanctity of life and our responsibility to protect it - whether our’s or someone else’s - whether born or unborn! Our eternal destination depends upon our response to God’s will - not to the will of the U.S. Supreme Court. |
